The New 2019 GMC Sierra AT4
April 27 2018, Paillé GM
All-terrain vehicle enthusiasts will be all smiles this fall when they get access to the brand new 2019 GMC Sierra AT4. Big, strong, luxurious and safe, the AT4 is the newest contender in the off-road sport vehicle class.
Recently unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, the Sierra AT4 will replace the Sierra All Terrain. There are several reasons why the AT4 is going to be the new darling of off-road fans, including a suspension that is two inches higher, Rancho dampers and red tow hooks. It will also be equipped with a locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control and a 360-degree camera. It comes factory standard with four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case.
For now, three engines have been presented for this truck. The basic mill is a 5.3-litre V8 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. But you can also opt for a 6.2-litre V8 or a six-cylinder diesel, both with a ten-speed automatic gearbox.
A lot of technology has been included in this vehicle, including the Traction Select system. This device lets drivers choose their preferred driving mode depending on the road type and conditions. On GMC vehicles that currently have this system, the available driving modes are: all-wheel drive, off-road, sport and tow. The Sierra is also the first truck to offer the revolutionary MultiPro tailgate. Numerous functions are possible with this two-stage gate: it can open completely, you can lower the upper part to get closer to the bed, open just the top part, turn it into steps and more. While waiting for more information on this truck, here’s a short video explaining how the MultiPro tailgate works and all its features: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUcXkwCoUBQ.
The Sierra is not the only GMC model that will benefit from the AT4 sub-brand. The company wants to add this trim level to most of its models within the next two years. We hope that you’re as excited about it as we are.
