Signs Your Brake Pedal Needs to be Repaired
March 02 2018, Paillé GM
When you press the brake pedal, you want to feel confident that your vehicle is going to stop. The pedal itself should feel firm, as though you can feel it actually holding or stopping your car. If it feels like there’s play when you depress the pedal, such as sponginess, then it’s time to have it checked.
There could be several reasons for your car’s brake pedal not performing as it should. One of them is air in the brake lines. The hydraulic, or brake, fluid in the lines is what forms the pressure for the parts to move and stop your vehicle. When there’s air in the lines, it obstructs the fluid from moving. Fixing spongy brakes could be as simple as bleeding the brake lines to remove the air.
