Vallée-Jonction, QC, June 12th, 2022 - Paillé Course//Racing couldn’t expect for a more outstanding result: drivers Andrew Ranger and Marc-Antoine Camirand claimed the top two spots on the podium, on Saturday, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series was at Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction, QC. Both drivers overcame a penalty at mid-race and climbed back the field, Ranger earning his first win this season and Camirand scoring his first podium with his new team.
Andrew Ranger won an eventful race on the short, banked oval and made a great comeback after two disappointing events early in the season. Eight after qualifying, he was confident that his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro would be fast on the long run. And it was. During the first half of the race, he made his way to the top two and was showing great speed.
Second behind his teammate Marc-Antoine Camirand at the mid-race break, he stayed on track for one more lap while he was supposed to enter the pits according to NASCAR rules. He was forced to start from the back of the field after the break.
But Ranger knew he had a great car, and quickly worked through the field to make his way back in the top five. After he took the lead, he held back Camirand’s attempts and claimed his first win of the season.
“What a great way to forget my first two races this season. After qualifying, my car felt a little tight, but I knew that it would become better later in the race. I was already second at mid-race, and after that penalty, I knew that I could climb back to the top spot. WMI team prepared a great car and it is very promising for the rest of the season,” he said.
Ranger’s teammate Marc-Antoine Camirand had a very strong start in the QuickWick 250, but also had to come back from the end under similar circumstances. Camirand’s GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro dominated the first half of the race, with Camirand taking the lead at lap 34 after starting from the third spot.
He quickly built a strong gap with other cars behind him and entered the pits at the mid-race break knowing that he had the car to win the race. Unfortunately, he came in the pits too early and had to restart from the tail of the field for not following NASCAR procedure.
But just like Ranger, he quickly made his way back to the top, with both Paillé Course//Racing setting up the pace in front of the field. He finally claimed a second-place finish, his first podium with cars prepared at his new Camirand Performance shop.
“I’m very happy for the whole GM Paillé family, and I am proud that we could achieve this 1-2 finish. For the third time in three races, we led some laps and we showed that we had a very fast car. I have a very good team behind me and I know that we will have a first win with the 96 car soon,” stated Camirand.
Andrew Ranger, Marc-Antoine Camirand and Paillé Course//Racing will be back in action in two weeks, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series makes his first race in Newfoundland, at Eastbound Park, in Avondale,
NL, on June 25th.
