Know Your Warranty Before You Buy
April 13 2018, Paillé GM
When you go to purchase your next new vehicle the subject of the warranty is sure to come up. This is an important conversation to have as it factors into the price of the vehicle. For that reason, it is important that you have a basic understanding of different warranties and what they cover.
The two most common ones that are offered are bumper to bumper and powertrain warranties. The bumper to bumper warranty is fairly self-explanatory. Basically it will cover just about everything on the vehicle unless it is specifically omitted. Anything that is left out of a bumper to bumper warranty should be explicitly explained to you during the sale process.
A powertrain warranty is going to cover basically anything that assists in the vehicle's forward motion. This is going to include things like your engine, transmission, driveline, differentials, etc.
