How Does Tire Rotation Work?
April 03 2018, Paillé GM
Tires don't last forever so you must take steps to reasonably extend their life. Tire rotations help the cause. Tires on the wheel axle that gains all the power from the engine become more prone to wear than the tires on the other wheel axle. The wear must be even or else the tires won't handle on the road as well.
Rotation involves moving the rear tires to the front and the front tires to the rear. The rotation can also be done from left to right/right to left. Mechanics handle this job after hoisting the vehicle up on a lift.
Rotating tires also affords the opportunity to perform safety and performance inspections. The tires could use a little more air. Or, perhaps, the worn tires must be replaced.
