GMC Draws on Years of Pickup Truck Engine Production for 2014 Sierra
May 28 2013, Automobiles Paille Inc.
Year-after-year, American automaker GMC seems to get it more and more right when it comes to its flagship GMC Sierra full-size pickup truck. And, most of the reason for this comes from the fact that GMC has a long, rich history of creating autos that effectively meet the wants and needs of drivers in Berthierville and beyond.
In fact, GMC has half a century of experience of not only designing, but leading the industry in the production of V6 engines. And, from the millions of trucks and their drivers' feedback, the automaker has been able to take what it first designed in the '60s, and, today, make it the most impressive engine offering in the segment.
"The family of V6 engines introduced in 1960 was designed to last, and I've heard of some owners going more than 450,000 miles on the original engine," says Donald Meyer, GMC truck historian. "They had really high torque and pulled loads well. GMC engineers know how to build durable, reliable engines that never quit."1
And, no fact is more indicative of this point than the new engine option out this summer and available for the 2014 GMC Sierra which will boast the most lb.-ft. torque production of any full-size pickup truck available. The 4.3-liter engine will be capable of making up to 305 lb.-ft. of torque and slightly less horsepower at 285.
